ABOUT
Hi! My name is Simon. I'm originally from the North of England but I moved to Australia some 30 odd years ago. Initially, I lived in Sydney's Eastern suburbs where I was introduced to surfing and it wasn't long after that, that I moved to the small coastal town of Byron Bay, chasing waves and an alternative life style.

After some years of surfing a lot and not really much else, I was lucky enough to get a job at McTavish Surfboards, where I learnt the skills and fundamentals of surfboard repairs - notably from Adam "Dr Ding", Billy McClean and Mal Bugden from McTavish and Crouch at Munro Surfboards. Several years later, I started my own business called 'Ding Repairs Byron Bay' which I've been running flat chat for over the past ten years.. and now I feel the time has come to pass my skills on to you - for those who aren't lucky enough to have a repairer close by or those who just want to learn the craft for themselves; I've put all of my knowledge into a series of step by step tutorials so that you can keep your boards out of landfill and under your feet.

No matter how bad the damage on your board, with little effort and basic skills, every board can be fixed and given a second life. Whether you've just dinged your nose or done yourself a real mischief and snapped your board in half, you'll find a clear step by step tutorial to get you back into the water with both you and your board looking good!

With each tutorial, you'll receive an introduction and a list of things you'll need for the repair. Once you've purchased a tutorial, it's yours for life so you're free to go at your own pace and have it there for future reference. You'll have access to a members forum page where you can build your own community and I'll also be around for a chat if you ever get stuck, just send me a message. If you want to see more, you can follow my Instagram for extra surfboard related tips & tricks.
I find learning a new practical skill can be mindful, if given the correct instruction. If anything it helps to have a challenge to focus on and nothing beats that sense of accomplishment when you're done.
